EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Friday 10th September from 8.30pm there will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament here in the Cathedral which will close at 9.15am on Saturday 11th September. Adoration will be led by the Jesus Youth Group for the whole Cathedral Community to pray for the Pope’s visit to our country. To ensure there is always someone in the Cathedral during Adoration please sign up for an hour on the sheets by the main door. The Jesus Youth Group (aged 18+) is part of an international organisation for the promotion of prayer and service of the Church.
POPE BENEDICT XVI
When you came into church this weekend you would have been given a copy of the MAGNIFICAT. The book covers the liturgies and events of the Papal Visit, which will take place between the 16-19th Sept. Liturgies taking place before and after the visit are also included. Anyone wishing to make a donation towards the publication of this book can place their offerings in the wall safe marked MAGNIFICAT to the left of the internal doors of the front entrance. (suggested offering £2)
FRIENDS OF NORTHAMPTON CATHEDRAL
When you see the second collection is for the Friends of Northampton Cathedral this is the group which aims to Promote, Progress and Preserve the Cathedral. The funds raised help specific Cathedral projects and not the day to day running costs. For more information on the Friends or to join please see the literature on the entrance tables.
COFTON PARK – PAPAL VISIT
All coaches for the Northampton pick up point will depart from The Saints Surface Car Park, Edgar Mobbs Way, Northampton. The car park will be open from 2.30am. All pilgrims from the Cathedral Parish must register with Philly McKenna, Cathedral Pilgrim Leader, by 3am at the latest. You will then be issued a Pilgrim wrist band which will allow you access to the coach. It is advisable to bring a folding chair and your own refreshments for the day. Please be aware it will be a long walk to the site of Beatification. The coach is expected to arrive back in Northampton at 5.30pm.
CATHEDRAL SVP APPEAL
Next Weekend 11/12th September is the annual appeal to support the work of the Cathedral SVP. The group is extremely active in our parish and community in various ways, such as visiting the housebound, offering practical support to those in need. To enable the group to continue this essential role within the parish and the community they rely on the generosity of the parish. Next weekends 2nd collection will be for the Cathedral SVP. Thank you.
JOURNEY IN FAITH
Sessions resume this Wed 8th Sept at 7.30pm in the Upper Room. Sessions offer an opportunity to deepen our understanding of our Catholic Faith.
PRO LIFE PILGRIMAGE TO WALSINGHAM
This annual pilgrimage to celebrate the dignity of human life from conception to natural death will be led this year by our own Bishop Peter. A coach will leave from the Cathedral at 7.30am on Sunday 3rd October. Returning approx 8.30pm. Seats reserved on payment of £12.50. Fr Simon will accompany the group on this important pilgrimage.
HCPT AUTUMN BALL
The Cathedral HCPT group is holding their annual Autumn Ball on Saturday 9th October at 7pm at the Park Inn Hotel, Silver Street. Formal dress. Tickets £35 and £30 for concession, price includes a 3 course meal and live music. Hotel discounts available. Tickets can be purchased from the Parish Office. All proceeds go towards providing a Pilgrimage to Lourdes for children with disabilities and special needs from our community.
OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
A relic of Our Lady of Guadalupe is travelling throughout England and Wales this year and will be in our Diocese at Bedford for 9 days. You are invited to a Procession of Faith on Sunday September 12th from 2pm in Bedford Park, and a solemn Diocesan Mass on Monday 13th September at 7.30pm at St. Joseph’s Church, Bedford. ICON OF OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL SUCCOUR
The Annual veneration of this icon takes place on Sunday 12th September at 3pm at Great Billing. Sister Esther from Turvey Abbey, a well known iconographer, will speak on icons. Come and honour Our Lady in this very special icon.
