PENTECOST ALL NIGHT VIGIL

There will be an All Night Vigil for Pentecost beginning after the Saturday evening Mass until before the first Mass on Sunday morning. If you are willing to pray before the Blessed Sacrament for an hour during those hours please sign the rota on the table by the sacristy.

PENTECOST SUNDAY
Next Sunday at the 10.30am Mass we will be celebrating the cultural diversity of the Cathedral community, please bring food from your own country of origin to share afterwards. Please label the food (and containers) clearly. Also you are invited to wear your national costume for this feast.

CAROLINE CHISHOLM CELEBRATIONS
Bishop Peter will celebrate a special Mass in the Cathedral to mark the Bicentenary of her birth on Tuesday 13th May at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
On Monday 19th May at 7.30pm Carole Walker who did her doctorate on Caroline Chisholm will give a presentation in the Cathedral entitled: ‘An Ordinary Woman – An Extraordinary Life.’
Also an Ecumenical Service to celebrate the bicentenary will be held on May 22nd at 7pm at Caroline Chisholm School, Wootton Fields. We only have 20 tickets for this event. Please call the Parish Office if you would like to attend.

ANOINTING MASS

There will be an opportunity to celebrate this Sacrament at Mass which has been arranged by the SVP on 15th May at 6.30pm. All welcome. If you know anyone living in the parish who requires transport please let the parish office know or enter their details on the notices available in the porches.

CATHEDRAL YOUTH CLUB
In May we hope to start a social club for young people aged 10 – 16. It would involve games of pool, board games, a craft corner, computer consoles and more. Before we start we are seeking donations of appropriate materials, such as board games that you no longer use, or quantities of paper and card. Anything suitable gratefully received, collection after the weekend Masses.

ORDINATION/FUNDAY VOLUNTEERS

We are looking for volunteers to help during the ordination weekend of the 27-29th of June. If you are free for one or more of these days and can offer any help please give your details after Mass. Thank you.

WORLD YOUTH DAY

While some of our young people are celebrating this event in Sydney there will be an opportunity for others to join Bishop Peter and the youth ministry team for their own celebrations on Sunday July 21st at Thornton College near Milton Keynes. The day runs from 10am to 4.30pm. The cost, which includes all talks, workshops and lunch, is £10 before June 1st and £15 thereafter. There is also a residential weekend for 11 – 18 year olds from Friday 19th July to Monday 22nd Cost £55 before May 16th, £65 after that. For more info contact Liz or Neil at www.nymo.org/festos.

VOCATIONS WEEKEND
For any men aged 18 or over who are considering the possibility of being called to the Priesthood in this Diocese there will be a weekend of exploration held at St. John’s, Luton from 16 – 18 May.
